Candlelight at the Ranch

Candelight at the RanchOnce again, Brazos West is honored to be able to participate in the 2015 version of Candlelight at the Ranch at the National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock, TX.

This will be the 6th year in a row for the group to sing, and it’s been a pleasure each time. The first three years, Brazos West performed in the Matador Half Dug-out. That was always lots of fun, and usually pretty cold. One year we sort of “overdid” the fire and the dug-out turned into a smokehouse… without the good food. We coughed our way through Christmas music, but at least we were warm.

Last year, we performed in the Ropes Depot as period-dressed actors prepared to board the train that never quite made it to the depot. This venue was much better for us and our instruments, as it was well lit and relatively warm. Unfortunately, it was at the end of the tour and both nights were bitterly cold. Lots of folks bailed out before they had a chance to drop by and say howdy.

This year things look to be a bit different. They have chosen to move us to the stage in the main exhibit hall. This means that instead of singing the same 16 songs over over and over again, we will now be singing on a sound system and performing a full night of music. Folks will have a chance to come in after their tour, relax and enjoy some good western music.

We sure hope you’ll join us. Come on out to the National Ranching Heritage Center on December 11th or 12th. The tours (and music) begin at 6:00 PM and continue until 9:00. See you there!
